How to Paint Your Dragon!

Hey Jammers Arctic here!

Ahem: I HAVEN'T POSTED SINCE LAST YE- *dodges a lemon*

I'm sorry. I just haven't made that joke SINCE LAST YE- *gets hit by more lemons*

I know I know. It's just I'm feeling really emotional you know?

You guys: Aww, why Arctic?

BECAUSE I HAVEN'T SEEN YOU GUYS SINCE LAST YE- WAUGGH!

ANGRY MOB. ANGRY MOB!

But is it really New Years unless you make terrible New Years' jokes MULTIPLE TIMES?

I haven't made a masterpiece SINCE LAST YE- ALRIGHT I'LL STOP. I'LL STOP I PROMISE PLEASE DON'T THROW ANY MORE LEMONS AT ME.

I made a masterpiece I was really proud of a little while ago and I thought I'd show you all what it is!

Much to my joy, it got approved right away!! In case you don't know, this masterpiece is of a character called Toothless from the How to Train Your Dragon movie franchise! The first installment in the series is one of my favourite movies of all time and I've been wanting to make a masterpiece of it for a long time!

I actually remembered to take progress shots this time, so you guys can see my process for how I made this masterpiece! Unfortunately, I was still a BIT of a dingus, and I forgot to take a screenshot of the sketch! Oh well!

Whew! Yes, I took a LOT of Screenshots! But I'm glad I did- it's really cool to see how things progressed into the final product because even the artists themselves will hardly remember what their creations looked like in the very beginning!

I was ALSO a bit of a dingus in the fact that I made the foolish mistake of doing the basic colouring for the foreground BEFORE the background! This complicated things, but I still think it turned out alright!

Anywho, that's all for today folks! If you're interested in seeing this masterpiece, it's in my den currently!

Alrighty, see you soon- have a groovy day!

I HAVEN'T READ ANY COMMENTS SINCE LAST YEAR!

New Year, New Changes

Hey, Jammers!  I can't believe it's almost 2018... wow...  This year has been absolutely amazing to me; I've improved so much on my art, and met so many new friends.  Hopefully next year will be even better!  However, next year, I will no longer be posting here on the Animal Jam Artists Collaborative.

I started the Animal Jam Artists Collaborative blog nearly 6 months ago, around the same time I quit my personal AJ blog and YouTube channel.  Since then, many amazingly talented artists and other kind Jammers have joined, read, and commented on this blog.

However, I've barely played Animal Jam since this summer, and I don't have any interest in the game any longer.  I want to focus on my own art, and starting to earn money from it.  I've been wanting to leave the blog for a while now, and finally, I am.

Purplestarclub will be leaving the blog as well.  But don't be sad- although we're done with Animal Jam, and this blog, we will find new things to enjoy, new projects to work on.  And you'll have new authors to meet.

Sarahkey8 will be running the blog from now on, and she'll be posting every Sunday.  She'll also be choosing a new author to write on Tuesdays.  (Be sure to let her know if you're interested in applying for the position!)

The new posting schedule will be Swirlshine on Saturdays, Sarahkey8 on Sundays, Arcticstar on Mondays, a new author that Sarah will choose on Tuesdays, Karalee on Wednesdays, Sharae on Thursdays, and Transions on Fridays.

And, yeah, this is my goodbye.  I hope that you continue to read this blog, and that you have a fabulous day full of unicorns and rainbows.  This is Crazcatlover, signing out.

Blogger Signature -- Sort Of.

Okay guys, imma level with you -- this thing ain't finished.

I had a few more chores than I expected, and (in the spirit of honesty) I completely forgot that I needed to post today. This leads to... an unfinished siggy.

(And I have to put my siblings to bed in a few minutes, so this'll be quick.)

(And ACK! It's Karalee! 😄 Forgot to say.)

However, this grants me a new opportunity, Blogger Signature Beta Testing!

What do you think of this design, Lost?

Do you like the idea of several tiny chibis, or do you prefer one big one?

Do you like the motif of the chibis being little fire-like figures (to match the lettering), or would you prefer them to have more substance and color? (I can also make them fire-like with some amount of color -- the color of the brush right now is a pretty bright red, to give you an idea of how much will end up in the drawing.)

Do you like the transparent crystals in the background? Please comment with your thoughts, Lost!

Well, anyone can comment, really, but especially Lost! XD

EEP this took longer than I thought! Gotta go now! Thank you guys so much for your patience!

PEACE!
LOVE!
NINJAAAAAAAS!

Forget Fruitcake - Merry Christmas!

Hey Jammers, Arctic here!!

Ahem:

MERRY CHRISTMAS! I HOPE YOUR DAY HAS BEEN FULL OF CHEER SO FAR!

At the time I'm writing this, it's still Christmas Eve- so I don't know what I got yet! Maybe I'll update it later today (err, tomorrow for me currently as I write this)

ANyWhO!

Yesterday (err, today) I logged onto AJ and decided I felt like making some art in the AJ art studio. Afterall, it's been a while since I've made a masterpiece - and maybe it would be fun to make some Christmas art!

The only issue was that- I didn't know what to draw!

I ended up settling for drawing a banana... then I drew a Santa hat on it for some reason. I don't really know what the thought process for that was, but I really love how it turned out!

I think it's a semi-realistic kind of banana. It's a very simple piece, but I really like it! It isn't approved yet, but when it is - it'll be in a festive gingerbread frame!

Maybe, maybe maybe I should make this a thing, you know? Seasonal banana masterpieces? I could have Christmas Bananas, Valentine's Bananas, Lucky Bananas, Spooky Bananas, Easter Bananas...
Or maybe just fruit in general!

I find that drawing fruit, flowers, etc. (basically, still life) can really help you with working on colours, textures, and shading. I tend to give up on masterpieces that feature animals and figures like those because I haven't nailed anatomy yet and it really ends up frustrating me, haha! Still life like these, though, offer a lot more room for creativity than you'd expect!

That's all for this post, my friends! I hope you like the festive fruit!

Merry Christmas, and best wishes to all!

P.S. Whatcha get for Christmas?

Awesome Art From Across Jamaa!

Hello everyone!
IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!

I'm honestly SO EXCITED! I love Christmas SO MUCH! XD!
Today, my family and I are going to a Tran-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) Christmas concert! If you haven't heard any of their songs, I highly recommend them- they're awesome! :D

Anyways, let's just get started on the post, since who knows how long this will take me to finish? XD!

First, an amazing piece I found on a buddy's trade list, made by Reptileo127! I can't remember whose main look this is- Reptileo's or the jammer who had this one their trade list- but I know it's someone's! XD!
Anyways, isn't it such a cool idea? I love how, since the snow leopard has an Astronaut Helmet on, they made the animal almost like a part of space itself! Reminds me of a couple Warriors animations I've seen before! And the detail is amazing as well!
This very winter-y piece, made by 223Lourose, is absolutely stunning! Every line looks so smooth and natural, and the texture on the wood is beautiful as well! But I think my favorite part would have to be that pine tree in the background. :D
Next up, a beautiful Mira, made by Goldstar345, which I found actually pretty recently! Goldstar is actually my buddy, and let me say, their art is AWESOME! Definitely check this artist out, if you can! I love Mira's regal, spread-out wings in this, and the way her tail feathers end in a curl is really pretty as well! And the value definitely makes a world of difference! I love Mira, AND Goldstar's art, so I'd LOVE to own this Masterpiece someday!
Next (this one's for you, Lost!), a sweet lil' pug in a field of flowers, made by none other than Chocolate4froggy, one of the most popular artists on AJ! Man, imagine how long all those flowers must've taken, guys! Frog certainly must be a patient artist!
Anways, the pug's face is ADORABLE, and the detail on each little stem and leaf is just remarkable!
And lastly, a piece I found a VERY long time ago, made by Pantsuprincess! I love how some parts of the wolves are outlined in white, to make them look like reflections of light and stand out, and the detail on the fur is gorgeous as well! I also like the colors this artist chose- light blue and pink aren't normally used on wolves, but this artist was creative and definitely made it work, in my opinion!

Woo! That actually didn't take nearly as long as I thought, hehe!
Alright, well, I suppose that's all for now, everyone! Remember to party hard, have a merry Christmas (and a happy new year!), and JAM ON! ;)

How to make an Animal Jam Ornament

Hi, guys! So I’m trying to type this on my IPad in my mom’s car right now listening to the best music ever. Well, let’s just get into the post! I felt like making an Animal Jam inspired ornament so I’ll show you step by step how I did it.

You will need:
-One plastic round ornament
-One lei
-Small rubber bands
-Thin cardboard
-Computer paper
-Time & space

First, take your lei and cut some of the flowers off of it. You can always just buy fake flowers to make this next part a bit easier but I had to use what I had lying around at home.

Then, take your small rubber bands and put them around the ends of the flower to give it a bit more shape. You can skip this step if you’re using fake flowers or even just if you don’t have the patience with the lei flowers.

After that, just take your your flowers and put them in the ornament.

Then, cut out two eyes, two ears, a muzzle, and a two ears on normal paper. Glue them on to your thin cardboard to give it some thickness. I sort of based the face on an arctic wolf but it's sort of just of an Animal Jam animal.
Oh, I also made a tail for it!
I actually really like the tail.

Finally, glue the face on the face and your done! Here's the finished product on my my Christmas tree!
Merry Christmas! It's only three days away!!!

-A very excited Transions

Blogger Signature -- Swirlshine!

Heyyyyyyy Jammers!

What's up? Karalee here!

Today we've got a blogger signature for the wonderful Swirlshine! 😁🎉 I hope you enjoy it, Swirl!

Swirlshine's palette of colors on her animal gives me so much room to play with contrast and composition! 😀 The black lines were done with a reduced-opacity Reed brush, as was the coloring on the chibi and shooting star, and the background colors were done with the Cotton brush. The appearance of Swirlshine's chibi comes from a time when she said a drawing I did of an OC looked just like her... so I used the same color scheme. Is it right, Swirl? 😯

In other news, my queue for Blogger Signature requests is finally empty! O.O I need either some more siggy requests, or more ideas for something to draw! If you would like a Blogger Signature, please comment below with your Animal Jam username, and the name you would like to have on your signature (if it's different from your username)!

(And if you have any suggestions/ideas for future art pieces, please comment those, too!)

That's all I've got for ya!
Signing off,

PEACE!
LOVE!
NINJAAAAAAAS!

EDIT: Ohhhhhhh, no. I just realized, going back and reading Swirlshine's request comment, that this isn't what she wanted at ALL! D: I'm so sorry, Swirl! I guess I'll have another week's post after all, making the proper signature. Ideas for the future are still highly appreciated, though!

A Jamaaliday Bakery!

Hey Jammers, Arctic here!

And once again, I have managed to get myself sick. *slow clapping*

Somehow it seems like whenever I have important plans I seem to get sick, haha! I wonder if there's a connection... Anyway - there's no time to be staying home from school this week since it's the last week before break and we still have a TON to learn! Wish me luck!

Because of my being sick, I didn't have the energy to be up and about making art or anything this week. Luckily, I have another Den Map which I worked on before hand that I can show you guys this week!

In the spirit of the Jamaalidays, I decorated a Jamaaliday House den as a bakery! But not just any bakery, oh no. A FESTIVE bakery!

I like to imagine what kinds of people (err, animals I guess haha) would live in the den, visit, hang around, etc. This really helps me decorate because it makes me think about things like comfort and design! For this den, I imagined a small family running the bakery with the help of some close family friends. I think they'd cater foods to customers too and take on-the-go orders as well, so that's why the cashier faces outside and there's a dog sled (for deliveries!)

The den was a little too small on the inside for me to do everything I wanted with it, so I 'extended' the bottom floor using tables! Upstairs is a cozy little sitting area for customers, staff, friends, and family to gather and have a nice snack and maybe even play some music!

As for the den map itself, it didn't take as long as usual! It only took around an hour or so (many others have taken around an hour and a half or over two hours). I'm very pleased with the result of both the den and the den map. I made far fewer errors this time in editing it all together, so I'm very happy about that too!

Yikes- my throat really hurts. I have school tomorrow (or 'today' when you guys will be reading this) so I had better go to sleep before my cold gets any worse.

See you around- have a groovy day!

*sneeze*

Wings of Sky and AJ Artist Tag!

Hey Jammers! Sarahkey8 here back with another post! Now I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sorry for forgetting to post D:  I think those few days were when a few people forgot to post though.. XD
Anyways, today I bring you a piece of art, and a tag!

First of all, Queen Scarlet of the Skywings  from The Wings of Fire series!
I'm actually pretty happy with this, the wing looks pretty good, the eye looks pretty good, I like how the wings turned out, except for the fact that I started it to much to the right, its tail is super skinny, and its back is super.. squished? Yeah, also the talons look out of place...
But again, it's a dragon, and turned out way better then I expect it to! (The reason why she doesn't look all murderous like she normally is, is because she is.. a baby on this? XDD)

1. Hmm... Idk XD Wolf? Bunny? Those are like the only two I have ever draw XD XD
2. uhmmmmmmmmmm like, everything.
3. This XD
4.  I really do not know because I have been starting to draw traditionally more, but the AJ art studio over digitally
5. Pra- Okay, everybody knows that, probably draw what you think is hard, which I guess is practicing, but practice makes perfect even though when drawing you are always learning!

Okay, thats all for now! Seeya later bananas!

Some Graphics + Art!

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a great weekend so far! I'm personally excited- I have 3 more days of school until Christmas break! WOOHOO!! XD!

Anyways, let's just get on with today's post! ;D
First off, here's a few Adopt-A-Pet graphics I made a little while back, just for fun! Maybe I'll put these to use in a new header sometime soon! Feel free to use them if you want to!

I hope these turned out okay! I may go back and edit them throughout the week if I see there's something wrong with them!

And, since I felt like I should add something else into this post, here are three AMAZING pieces of art that I found on AJ!

First, one by the one and only Nevergrowup1! This is super adorable, and I love the texture on the cat's fur! Now this is a Masterpiece I'd love to own! :D
This is a beautiful falcon (I believe), made by Vonqu! The detail on this is remarkable- it really does look real! This has got to be one of my favorite Masterpieces!
And lastly, an amazing scene from the movie Moana! I can only imagine how long this must've taken to make!! Just LOOK at the detail! Such an amazing piece of art! Bubbleyum7 is an AMAZING artist! :D

Sorry if this post seems kinda all-over-the-place! I kinda have limited time! But hopefully, you all still enjoyed it! Until next time, remember to PARTY HARD, BE KIND, and JAM ON! See you guys later! ;)
